Saturday 12th November EICMA hosted the presentation of the riders who, in 2017, will represent Phoenix Team, an Italian team which got great results this year in Italian Supersport Championship thanks to Kevin Manfredi (some podiums and even a victory in Imola, in addition to a great recovery from 36th to 12th in the WSS race in Misano).

2017 will be very important and busy for the team owned by Domenico Fasanella, since it will be supported by Suzuki Italia and will line up six riders amongst European Superstock 1000 Championship, European Supersport Championship and Italian Supersport Championship.

In Superstock 1000, the team will be represented by Kevin Calia and Emanuele Pusceddu. Kevin participated in Red Bull Rookies Cup for three years, then he won the Italian Moto3 Championship and shifted to 1000cc. “Push #58” had a good year in European Junior Cup in 2015 and then struggled in STK1000 due to physical problems.

In ESS, Phoenix Team will line up two promising youngsters: the Kiwi Connor London (who experienced an important improvement this year in EJC, where he raced for some seasons, and Italian National Trophy 600) and the Italian Jacopo Cretaro (who is currently racing in CEV Superstock 600, a championship mixed with Moto2 European Championship).

Calia and Pusceddu will also participate in Italian Superbike Championship and Cretaro in Italian Supersport (where he will share the box with Simone Fornasari), while London will continue participating in Italian National Trophy 600, where he will be Danilo di Lazzaro’s teammate.

To remark how 2017 will be important for the team, it has signed Fred Merkel, who won the first ever World Superbike Championship in 1988, as mental coach of the team. This will allow the six young riders to count on the help and suggestions of a great champion.
